The year 2015 was a very difficult year for Nepal as the big earthquake of 25 April destroyed houses as well as the economic opportunities of the people. The village people were especially impacted as 90% of the houses were destroyed.
Kishan Gurung saw a need to provide good, nutritious food to Kathmandu, seeking to help the farmers of his home village in Sindhupalchowk District Melamchi, village of Haibung, to recover from their loses. He sought out the freshest and finest foods, bringing them back to Kathmandu where his wife started cooking for the Kathmandu people. Soon people starting flocking to his place for the true authentic tastes that you could only find with the freshest ingredients. It was from that time that PaletiBhancchaghar was started.
The cooks under her have same commitment to quality, reflecting their own heritage from the villages where they hail from. The commitment to supporting the village farmers still continues today.
