About Us

CJMC has always measured its success by its students' academic achievement and the level of professionalism they demonstrate in their area of employment, both of which have remained exceptional throughout time. The college promises to instill professionalism in media activities and to give students with an integrated and practical grasp of journalism.

The institution takes pleasure in the fact that it is the only college in the country that focuses only on media education. Around 400 of our alumni and post-graduates are working as media communication experts around the country, according to the College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Our Vision

College of Journalism and Mass Communication aims at transforming itself into Communication University of Nepal [CU Nepal]. CU Nepal has already been registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports.

To set a new benchmark of quality in journalism in Nepal there is but one way and that is through the establishment of a university that focuses solely on teaching Journalism.

Our Objectives

  • To bring about an end to the “old-schooling” of journalism in Nepal and re-evaluate our teaching practices.
  • To be a center for excellence in Journalism for the whole of Nepal.
  • To provide an INTEGRATED, PRACTICAL and IN-DEPTH understanding of journalism.
  • To educate Journalists and students on the functional and operational capabilities of new media technologies.

Dr. Manju Mishra

Chairperson: College of Journalism and Mass Communication

It was on January 2001 that I founded College of Journalism and Mass Communication (CJMC) with mere $250 and started courses at the Master's level in Mass Communication and Journalism (MA MCJ), Masters in Development communication and Bachelor's in Mass Communication and Journalism (BA MCJ) - the first by a private college - and we take pride in the fact that it remains the only college focusing entirely on media education in the country. We are pleased to say that around 400 of our graduates and post-graduates are serving the nation as media communication professionals.
We, at CJMC, have always judged our success by our students' performance academically and by the degree of professionalism they exhibit in their line of work, which I must commend have remained outstanding over the years. The core objectives behind all my endeavors has been to imbue professionalism in media practices and to provide an integrative and pragmatic understanding of Journalism to our students
