About Us
Theravada Buddhist Academy is established in affiliation with Lumbini Buddhist University, Lumbini under the active leadership of Ven. Bhikshu Jnanapurnik and duly incorporated under the umbrella of Vishwa Shanti Vihara in April 2012. Theravada Buddhist Academy is the sole organization devoted to promoting and maintaining Theravada Buddhism, its culture, and legacy via education, research, and a variety of other activities like seminars, conferences, and meditation sessions. It also seeks to foster mutual understanding and collaboration across Buddhist traditions including Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana.
Theravada Buddhist Academy, New Baneshwor started Master's program in Theravada Buddhism amidst a grand function at Vishwa Shanti Vihara on August 18, 2012, with Ven. Aggamahapandita Bhadanta Nyanissara Mahasthavira (Sitagu Sayadaw), of Myanmar as the chief guest.
