The Master of Surgery (MS) in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery at KIST Medical College & Teaching Hospital is a three-year postgraduate residency program affiliated with Tribhuvan University’s Institute of Medicine. This specialized surgical program provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis, management, and surgical treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and traumatic injuries. The curriculum covers a wide spectrum of orthopaedic sub-specialties, including fracture management, joint replacement (arthroplasty), arthroscopic surgery, spine surgery, pediatric orthopaedics, sports medicine, and hand surgery. Residents gain extensive hands-on experience in the operating theatre, outpatient clinics, and emergency settings, managing both elective cases and trauma emergencies. The program emphasizes evidence-based practice, surgical skill refinement, and research, culminating in a thesis. Graduates emerge as competent orthopaedic surgeons, prepared for independent practice, academic roles, or further super-specialty training (MCh) in fields like joint replacement or spine surgery.
